Weekends

Monday, July 23rd, 2012

Last weekend, I went to the Meiji Shrine in Tokyo for a walk and beautiful irises, known as ayame or shobu in japanese, were blooming in the garden.
The vibrant purple and white of the flowers were set off beautifully by the verdant green of the grass.
It’s hard to imagine that this place is in the middle of the bustling metropolis of Tokyo.

The garden is worth visiting all year long but I think the best time is probably June when irises are fully bloomed.

I also passed by the famous power spot named ”Kiyomasa’s Well”.

Week end

It has been famous for some healers and writers and many people visit it to claim the good luck.

There were cute little turtles in the pond near the Well.

There was a wedding ceremony held that day again.

Capri Island

I also visited Capri, which is about 1 hour distance from Naples.
I only had 3 hours to visit the island so I didn’t have enough time to see all the places.
But I enjoyed the beautiful landscape and also shopping!

Capri island

Capri is a picturesque island made of limestone rock.
There are a lot of boats in the harbor and the white buildings remind me of Sicily.

I bought some souvenirs in the cute shop displayed with traditional sweets.
I ate one of them and there was a nut inside and was very delicious!

I ate Caprese at a restaurant named Giorgio and learned that it’s from the Italian area of Campania.

The famous margherita pizza from Naples!
I loved the fresh food of this restaurant.

On the way to the island, I rode in a small boat that was swinging but on the way back, it was a big boat that carries trucks so I felt safer and much more comfy!

Naples, Italy

Wednesday, July 4th, 2012

I had a shooting in Paris last month and on my way back, I had a short visit to a shoe factory in Naples.
It was a short trip so it was busy there but I was able to visit beautiful places and to refresh myself.

Naples

I ordered some new designed shoes at the showroom and now I’m looking forward to see the finished samples!

Naples

I visited the historical city of Pompeii which was 30 minutes drive from Naples.
Mount Vesuvius erupted about 2000 years ago and the city was completely buried under a lava flow and a shower of ashes. The place I visited is very valuable as the city stayed the same as it was before the eruption.
You can see Mount Vesuvius in the back of the picture.

Naples

There was a dog shaped tiles in the entrance of one of the house.
It even says “Watch out for the dog”!
I had the opportunity to see pictures and to work from the ancient eras : it was very interesting.

The last picture is the cute shop at the exit.
So many oranges hanging from the roof!
